Weather protection for critical offshore wind cable jointing
ACWA Power (formerly NOMAC) required a controlled working environment to carry out maintenance on a large power station turbine.
Turbine maintenance is a precision operation where environmental conditions must be carefully managed. Dust, airborne contaminants, and temperature fluctuations can all affect the quality of the work and the integrity of critical components.
The challenge was to create a temporary clean, temperature-controlled workspace within an operational power station — without the time, cost, and logistical complexity of constructing a permanent enclosure.
The Njordair solution
A sealed air enclosure configured around the joint bay
Njordair supplied four SA-6 sealed air Fast Tent modules, which were connected to form a large enclosed workspace around the turbine.
The modular design allowed the enclosure to be configured to suit the scale of the equipment, creating a fully enclosed, controlled environment suitable for precision maintenance work.
Each tent was manufactured in a customised colour with integrated customer branding, aligning with site and corporate requirements.
To complete the system, Njordair also supplied a dedicated air conditioning unit, enabling precise temperature control within the enclosure. This allowed the internal environment to be stabilised regardless of external conditions.
All components — including the tents and HVAC system — were delivered in branded Clip-Lok transport cases, ensuring safe handling, efficient deployment, and repeat use across future maintenance operations.
The outcome
A dry, controlled environment for high-voltage cable connections
The Njordair system provided a practical and efficient alternative to traditional temporary structures, enabling turbine maintenance to be carried out in a clean, temperature-controlled environment.
The modular enclosure was installed quickly within the operational facility, minimising disruption while maintaining the required environmental conditions for high-precision work.
The combination of rapid deployment, environmental control, and reusability delivered a flexible solution that can be redeployed across future maintenance projects.
